Beach It Is!

I had quite the beachy theme going on this weekend!  I created 2 cards both with different origins.

The first, very colorful card was CASED from Stampin with Kathy out of Canada…..and is an alternative to the June Paper Pumpkin (Kits sold with stamps, inks, papers, etc along a monthly theme) created for my BFF’s Birthday…..I just LOVED it and is the “happiest” card I think I have ever made.

Pineapple Drink PP

The second card is for my beach buddy sister in laws birthday.  Jerri Ann has accompanied me on more than one trip to the North Carolina Outer Banks….This card just says it all……

colorful-seasons-beach-watercolor.jpg

This card is my first foray into water coloring.  The thinlets came from  Seasonal Layers for the chair and Swirly Scribbles for the Sun.  The chair paper was embossed with Seaside embossing folder, then the chair was cut out with the Big Shot.  I lightly sponged over it in Smokey Grey for a weathered look.

The rest of the card was drawn free hand using Stampin Write Markers in big streaky swooshes and my Aqua Painters to spread the color around.  I did use Watercolor Paper.

Enjoy these projects….and remember, if you are interested in buying any of the supplies for these projects, please use the links to my Stampin Up Store to order…..

Thanks for the visit!

Out with the Old…In with the New!

Time to get back to some Stamping!

I have been on the road quite a bit in the last few weeks.  I started in Chicago (where I call home) and went to Akron, OH for a family wedding.  Stayed in Cleveland with family for a week and then headed to the Outer Banks with family for a week in the sun.  I thought I would be able to do some stamping, but family time and enjoying the shore took precedence!  I, however, am back to playing in my craft space!

NOTE:  for the newer products or any with current items, I have included the hyper links to take you directly to my Stampin Up Store where you can acquire these great products!

The Old…….

Geez, I have been on the Fence with picking up the Occasions Carousel Birthday…and made the jump right before it retired….I am  just starting to play with it and glad that at the last minute, decided to snap it up!  Note:  something speaks to you….don’t ignore it.  Unfortunately, this set is no longer available, but had to share……

I totally CASED this card but credit goes to Pinterest Stamper Stampin Smiles by Jackie.

Carousel Happy Birthday

The New….

I was lucky to be able to attend Onstage in Minneapolis this year….and picked up a few things in April.  The Daisy Delight Stamp Set with the Daisy punch were some of my early acquisitions.  A fellow team member (Penni Behr)  created this beauty and I CASED it with a few changes…..

Couple of notes.

  • The flower is stamped twice an then cut out twice
  • I added the green center in Pear Pizzaz
  • The leaves are stamped on Old Olive with Old Olive and fussy cut
  • The Happy Birthday is cut out twice.  The top layer is Pear Pizzaz and the bottom layer is Old Olive.  This was done for contrast
  • The layer papers are Whisper White embossed with the Petal Burst embossing folder (5 X 3 3/4)
  • The middle layer is Daffodil Delight (5 1/4 X 4)
  • The card base is Old Olive (11 X 4 1/4 scored at 5 1/2)

And one more…..

And who doesn’t love Eastern Palace?  The card below was created by my upline, Connie Stewart and is another CASE.  I have yet to really dig into this set, but think that the possibilities for color, media (think watercolors…) and adaptation of the many stamps, will keep anyone creating for quite some time!

This card started with a Whiseper White Base, A square Melon Mambo base layer and a Whisper White slightly smaller (by 1/4″) Whisper White base.  This is where the thinlets —2 used together), created the cut outs.  A little stamping and a Silver Glimmer banner to seat the greeting….poof!  Complete!

Beautiful You against Mediterranean Moments

File_004

Beautiful You is the focal point for this card…and masked against embossed Mediterranean Moments in silver. Color accents in the girl were done with Stampin Write Markers

Cut base 8 1/2 X11 Whisper White base layer at 5 1/2. Score at 4 /14

Cut a 5 1/4 X 4 Basic Black layer

Cut a 5 X 3 3/4 Real Red layer

Cut a Whisper White 4 3/4 X 3 1/2 layer. This will be the layer used to mask and emboss.

Prepare a mask of the desired girl stamp. I used the sticker from the card stamp set and trimmed it close. You could also stamp the girl and cut it out and reserve it for the mask.

Using Basic Black Ink (Momento), stamp the girl in the desired position in the middle of of your smallest whisper white stock.

Adhere the mask (or sticker) on top of the stamped image of the girl.

Using your Embossing Buddy, wipe the small white card base to clear any static, or residue on the card.

Take your Mediterranean Moments desired scene and ink it up in VersaMark. Stamp over the mask of the girl mask.

Remove the mask.

Sprinkle Silver Embossing Powder over the entire card.. Shake off the remaining powder onto a clean sheet of folded copy paper and sift the powder back into your embossing powder container.

Tap the card with your finger to get rid of excess powder.

Using your Heat Embossing Tool, wave the heated tool over the embossed area, allowing the silver to melt. Wave the tool over the entire card until the silver smooths out.

Make sure to not heat too aggressively making the powder scatter and creating "splatters" on your card.

Color in your stamped girl image in desired colors. I used Melon Mambo for the sweater, Elegant Eggplant for the skirt.

Adhere Basic Black Layer to Whisper White Base using Snail Adhesive.

Adhere Real Red Layer to Basic Black Layer using Snail Adhesive.

Adhere embossed Whisper White Layer on to Real Read Layer using Snail Adhesive.

Elegant Condolence Card

Condolence_card2

A Pinterest favorite……

This card base used a Darice Embossing folder which I found particularly appealing. The flowers and paper are all Stampin Up…. Flowering Fields was part of 2016 Sale-A-Bration but is very nicely replaced with the currently available Wild About Flowers. My instructions will use that stamp set as it is readily available.

Paper Needed:

*Card Base Thick Whisper White cut 8 1/2 X 5 1/2; scored at 4 1/4
*Card Top Layer Old Olive 5 1/2 X 4 1/4
*White Layer Whisper White 5 1/4 X 4

Instructions:

  1. Emboss Whisper White Card Layer with desired folder (I used Darice)
  2. Stamp Flowers in Old Olive along the bottom border of the White Embossed layer
  3. Color flower with Stampin Write Markers (Bright Collections)
  4. Cut 8″ ribbon; create bow in center by wrapping ribbon around a thick marker, knotting, slipping off marker and snipping “bubble” to make a bow
  5. Use Glue Dots to adhere Ribbon ends to back of embossed layer about ‘3/4 to 1 inch from bottom
  6. Using snail, adhere Whisper White layer to Old Olive layer
  7. Using snail, adhere Old Olive Base to Thick Whisper White Card Base
